There is now a pontoon (Nov 2018) just inside on the wall to port as you enter the dock  transforming the usability of the place for yachts. There is a new HM here who is receptive to visitors and we are getting good reports. (See below for recent visitors in 2019and 2020) ... read more

Update June 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 7th Jun 2022
I reviewed these notes in June of 2022. As you can see from the comments in this section, this place has been getting very good reviews which are no doubt due to the enthusiasm of the HM. The prices have gone up a wee bit and there will be evidence of construction work around the harbour.
UPDATE SPRING 2021
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 30th Apr 2021
I reviewed these notes at the end of April2021. Their mooring fees are still £17 per boat per night though that may change. The new amenities block is well on the way. Thank you to all who have given us their views on the advances made by this harbour which are welcome in view of the restrictions being experienced at Eyemouth.

HM goes the extra mile to welcome yachts - moved the pilot boat so 3 of us could go alongside the pontoon. All boat lengths £17/night incl. electric & showers in August 2020. A scend works into the dock at HW in strong onshore winds. Recommended: Berwick Shellfish Co factory shop along Dock Rd towards Spittal.

Update: Local Faciities
Written by Piepowder | 4th Oct 2020
We love Tweed Dock (see 2019 review) but as an update, here are details of nearby eating establishments. 10 mins walk (passing Foulis takeaway if you can't wait) over the old Berwick Bridge finds Bridge Street including:
- The Barrels Ale House. Proper beer. Friendly and full of character.
- Audela. Classy restaurant. Fine local produce (venison, etc.). Good wines.
- Atelier. Pub/cafe with real ales plus pies, great cheese and charcuterie platters.
- The Curfew. Pub with outside seating. Local ales, well kept. Great pies. Stunning homemade sausage rolls.
- Magna Tandoori. Haven't tried it yet.
- The Mule on Rouge. Cafe. Good sandwiches and coffee
- Crumbs. Sandwich shop. Haven't tried it yet..
... and that's just the first street in Berwick!

Excellent facility and very helpful Harbour Master

Very welcoming HM. Pontoon big enough to fold sails on with security gate and electricity. Water tap is up on the quay - you'll need a container or long hose pipe. Good, clean showers quite a hike around the dock - you may need to ask the HM for a key.
There's an ASDA (with petrol station) about 10 minutes walk away. Also, an excellent pizza takeaway "Pizzaiolo" on Prince Edward Road - close enough it'll still be hot when you 're back on board.
Berwick (10 to 15 mins walk across the low bridge) is a fascinating town with a mainline station - a great alternative to Eyemouth.

Finlayson family visit with disabled wheelchair user
Written by calumF | 20th Jul 2019
Approached Berwick 3.5 hours after High Water, no problems with approach up river and pontoons.
Pontoon has built on rubber fendering and good electric hook up.
The ramp up to the dock is excellent for wheelchair ingress and egress, and around the dock the washing and showering facilities (shared with the lorry park contained good free showers). I got my son up the 5 steps partially behind the weigh bridge by carrying him up and placing him in a chair before bring his wheelchair up. Showering him in his wheelchair was easy. Disabled access including the ramp to the pontoon was better than Eyemouth.

Our New Favourite!
Written by Piepowder | 2nd Jul 2019
The Tweedmouth Dock is a sheltered location with a well marked channel and easy pedestrian access to the historic town centre (and the East Coast mainline).
The new pontoon (with power and water) now makes this a proposition for even the larger yachts. The staff are very friendly. The showers and washbasins were an unexpected bonus. The price at £15 / nt for a 21'er (including power) was a bargain.
Three great pubs within walking distance - The Barrels, Atelier and The Curfew. Also plenty of good eateries.
Highly recommended!

Worth a visit

Excellent pontoon now makes a visit to this historic city much easier. Harbour master was friendly and helpful with berthing charges at the low end.
Conventional wisdom was Eyemouth rather than Berwick..... but this will change.

Update Spring 2019
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 12th Apr 2019
I reviewed these notes in April 2019. There has been a change of attitude here; there is a new visitors pontoon with shore power and water and the toilets/showers have been refurbished. They had a dredge here last year and you should be able to sit alongside the new pontoon at most states of the tide but be careful if approaching at LW.
Be aware that they are having dredging problems at Eyemouth so for fin keeled cruisers this is now very much an option only six miles South of that.
New Harbour Master and new facilities for visiting yachts
Written by Daytour | 30th Nov 2018
A new harbour master has been appointed at the Port of Berwick and a new floating pontoon has just been installed. Complete with electric and water the new pontoon is aimed at the cruise ship trade but will also be available for leisure craft. Well worth a visit now!
