Still no toilets at the City Marina.
Update June 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 16th Jun 2022
I reviewed these notes in June 2022. Unfortunately River Escapes have closed down and their pontoon is no longer available for waiting a bridge tilt. Prices have increased across the board and it's still not easy to get rudimentary groceries.
UPDATE SPRING 2021

I reviewed these notes in May2021. As far as I can ascertain there are still no amenities at the City Centre Marina but the welcome downriver at River Escapes is confirmed.
Update Spring 2019

I reviewed these notes in April 2019. The typo for Blyth (pointed out below) is apologised for and is probably not the only place on this website that it occurs!! All the marinas have improved their facilities though the City Marina still does not have a dedicated amenities building. Charts have been updated.

These notes were reviewed by Don in March 2017. Have updated the prices and changed the charts, otherwise no changes
Update 2015

These notes were reviewed by Don in March 2015. Some prices have gone up and we have been warned that the pontoon below the bridge might charge craft waiting for the bridge opening
Outer harbour anchorages.
Written by Barbados Billy | 25th Jun 2014
I have used both the north and south anchorages in the outer section of the harbour. I always use a tripping line just in case. Both sides are subject to swell and wash but I found it tolerable. Tuck up in the marina round the corner if it's too bad. These anchorages are ideal for waiting out a foul tide or getting a bit of rest. I spent a day or so up the river finding out where all the old shipyards used to be and visiting the bridges in Newcastle. The Tyne has more than you might think so stay awhile and have a look even if it's a trip up the river and back on the tide.
Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 11th Apr 2013
The Newcastle notes were updated on the 11th April 2013. The big addition here is the Newcastle City Marina and we have included new notes for that. Prices are not too bad and have been updated throughout to cover the 2013 season.
