I am pleased to report that The Creek has now opened. This is the new restaurant at Haslar marina which is located on the water’s edge with great views over the boats. I’ve kept an eye open for progress on the refurbishment on the site, since the previous shore-based restaurant were very good. I look forward to trying this new incarnation.

Gunwharf Quays prices are in - up by 3%

I reviewed these notes at the end of March 2022. I hope to have a chartlet of Haslar Marina soon and Gunwharf Quays are being slow to publish their 2022 prices. Note from below that the shoreside restaurant at Haslar Marina has been relocated. Prices have increased across the board and it would appear that the dry stack people at Camber are the go to people for info about short stays in the Town Quay.

Just to make everyone aware they have started dredging the marina and was told today they would not be taking any visitors until November

Haslar is very handy Marinas for cross channel passage meet ups and Eastern Solent sailing ! Great staff .It needs more showers and toilets though ! Far too few for size of marina ! And the restaurant is closed in 2021 ! They need sort this out .

At present (August 21) the shore restaurant has been open but is now closed. It is being redeveloped to be the new marina office and the new restaurant will be where the office now is. It will give waterside views to the diners.
Presumably the office staff will monitor the marina with camers and walking about rather than looking out of their window?

I reviewed these notes in April 2021 intending to change Haslar to "Boatfolk" (which I've done.) Thanks for all the info on Haslar Judith - I'll get round to editing the text but for the moment I have all of the Dean Ready and Quayside marinas to change to boat folk!!

Haslar marina is now owned by Boatfolk https://www.boatfolk.co.uk/haslar-marina-portsmouth since they have taken over Dean and Reddyhoff.
The restaurant Hardy’s is now called Trinity’s https://www.trinitysathaslar.co.uk/ and they also run the Mary Mouse, (being picky there is a typo on lightship (extra h)). I hope they survive lockdown since they provided two great restaurants.

Haslar is also the home of a number of organisations including Phoenix Yacht Club http://phoenixyachtclub.co.uk/ which you might wish to add. It is a members club who run two yachts out of Haslar a Westerly Oceanquest 35 and an X-40.

I reviewed these notes in March 2020. Firstly, I've cleared up the text on traffic directions by the No 4 Buoy! I've also had a look at what Gunwharf Quay looks like from the Bar Beacon and given a couple of pointers on identifying it from the small ship Channel. The prices have gone up again I'm afraid and I've uploaded this years charts.

Planned out my passage from Chichester, using the guide and a reference to Reeds. I have to say, being new to Sailing, the preparation of my pilotage plan was made so interesting and easy, through my membership of this great site.

All ran perfectly to plan, except I missed the entrance to the Gunwharf Quays Marina, passing the Ballast Buoy. The Management of the Marina guided me to a Figurehead which is diametrically opposite the Ballast Buoy... But I just could not locate it.

However I got there in the end! Have to say that a stay at the Gunwharf Marina really is worth it. The Staff there are incredibly helpful and so friendly!!

The text re the Swashway still refers to leaving 4 Bar to starboard on entry. All small vessels now leave it to port inbound and outbound.

The latest Portsmouth Harbour LNTM shows that inbound and outbound traffic should leave no 4 Bar buoy close to port, following the extensive dredging and re-alignment of the main shipping and small boat channels. Previously, the small boat channel ran to the west of No 4 Bar buoy and inbound traffic left No4 Bar to starboard..

These notes were reviewed by Don in March 2016. Everyone has increased their prices and where we have been able they have been updated for the 2016 season.

These notes were reviewed April 2014. As far as we can tell there are no changes in the facilities; some of the marinas have increased prices, others remain the same; all have been updated to 2014. The only thing to note is that, in a perusal of Local Navigation Warnings, we noticed a couple referring to the Oil Fuel Jetty and especially the hazard caused by mooring lines to dolphins outside the entrance to the Gosport Marina. We have attempted to describe this mooring but if you are in any doubt and do intend to use the Gosport Marina, give the QHM a call for clarification.
