The work on the dock gate is still ongoing but passage through the dock to the marina is still possible at High Water. Check with the dock in advance for depths at HW.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 9th Sep 2022
I reviewed these notes in September 2022. Plan early for this place; most telephone enquiries end up at voicemail.
Lancashire ports no longer publish a web page with buoy positions but have a page where you can download their latest.
UPDATE SUMMER 2021
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 3rd Aug 2021
I reviewed these notes in August 2021. Gaining entry to the docks through the dock lock is no problem for the tide closest to Lunchtime. If you need to enter in the evening you will have to contact the HM of the Dock and negotiate. The marina itself has not changed.
Lock gates closed till mid March 2021

There will be restricted access by water into and out of Glasson Waterside & Marina between 18 January and 12 March 2021 as The Canal & River Trust carry out remedial works to the lock gates.
Further Update Spring 2018
Written by Don Thomson | 17th Apr 2018
Reference the opening times listed in the update below. The Dock has absolutely no problems operating the lock for a boat they are expecting; the problem was sitting around waiting just in case someone did turn up. You can lock in on either of the HW tides as long as you give them 48 hours notice. The price in the marina has gone up a wee bit.

UPDATE SPRING 2018
Written by Don Thomson | 3rd Apr 2018
NEW DOCK GATE (SEA GATE) OPENING TIMES ARE BEING INTRODUCED AT GLASSON. The Dock Gate will only be operated on one tide per day, as a matter of course, throughout the year. This will be the tide with High Water nearest to noon using local time, which will effectively extend existing Winter Opening Hours throughout Spring, Summer and Autumn. The Dock Gate will only be operated on other tides by arrangement, providing 48 hours' notice is given to the Port Office or Harbour Master. These opening times and the notice period will remain in force until further notice. Please note that should any vessels/yachts arrive without prior notice, and moor on the East or North Wall berths, the Lancaster Port Commission will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage that could occur to the vessels/yachts.

Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 12th Apr 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. There was considerable flooding upstream during the winter of 2015/16; it is suspected that there may be changes to the channel and surveys are ongoing. We hope to have information on this survey idc. Other than that the lock in still operates to the Lavers tide tables issued in Liverpool and say that the HW here is "the same as Liverpool Gladstone; this can differ from UKHO tide table by as much as half an hour. Prices have changed.
Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 21st Feb 2013
The notes for Glasson Docks were updated by Don T on 21st February 2013. The only change made was in reference to the HW time worked by the Glasson Dock Gate to which we were alerted by the statement in the document about the training wall research (see "More Info" above) in which the HM states that the HW time "..is the same as Liverpool"
