Any passage up the Lune Deep starts with locating and identifying the Lune Deep southerly Cardinal buoy (Q(6)+LFl.15s). It's coordinates are given in the data. It is also a RACON/AIS buoy so it shouldn't be too hard to locate lying 3 miles to the south-east of the conspicuous Barrow Wind Farm with its 30 gigantic turbines. ... read more

I reviewed these notes in September 2022. The Outer harbour marina is restricted to "C" section in its SW corner. I've added a link to the latest ABP survey of the approaches to Fleetwood.
Fleetwood moorings, have they gone?
Written by Trebby91 | 27th Sep 2021
Hi, Some years ago I had a mooring on the Fleetwood side of the river Wyre.
As far as I knew it was regarded as common land there were quite a few moorings there all free.
Looking on Google Earth they look to be no longer there can somebody confirm this,
Thanks, Barry.

Update from M.P.

"Replying to the question of the missing moorings on google earth. I have it on authority from a friend who lives there along with photographs that the mooring were removed and since refurbished. On the google earth images you can see some of the pontoons laid out in the carpark."

To access your boat if both swing bridges are open and the Affinity shopping centre main gate is closed (6pm) you can get into the shopping centre through the staff car park on the right of the main entrance. Then walk through to the brown wooden gate (Marina Walk) which is left unbolted. The key the marina gives you will unlock the metal gates adjacent to the shower block.

Approaches to Fleetwood.

Be aware that the RoRo ferries no longer use Fleetwood, so the channel is no longer dredged care should be taken once you have left red port mark No 6 stay In The channel. The marina lock gate opens 90 minutes before HW and closes 90 minutes after HW. Once through the lock do not attempt to go to Port as this area is very shallow.

They have now utilised the Fish Dock and have installed three long pontoons with finger berths. The charts have been updated and we note that the prices have changed.

Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 11th Apr 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. I think you'll find that the Lune Deep SCM has moved a little; check it against your chart if you are using an old one. Otherwise there are no changes other than the prices which are a little more than when we last updated.
