UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 21st Sep 2022
I reviewed these notes in September 2022. No changes apart from tariff.
UPDATE SUMMER 2021
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 17th Aug 2021
I reviewed these notes in August 2021 There is a new price structure for visiting boats which pay a fixed price wherever they are berthed. There is no Harbour Master as such; the Marina does the day to day running of the harbour.
UPDATE SPRING 2018

Very little has changed here except the prices which have gone up 10p per metre
Update Spring 2016

These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. I've included a link to their Harbour Plan which brings shows much more than the Admiralty chart. (Note that North on that plan is not upwards.) Their prices have been updated.

Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 26th Feb 2013
The harbour notes for Whitehaven were updated by Don T on the 22nd February 2013. The marina is expanding into the South basin during the spring and early summer of 2013 giving them an increased capacity. Note that, if you have visited this harbour before the light signature of the North Pierhead light has changed and the 2 vert red lights have been replaced by a single one. The prices have not been updated for the 2013 season but we hope to have them by the end of March 2013.

The World at Whitehaven, Aug 2010
Written by Bryant | 15th Aug 2010
'The World': the biggest and most luxurious vessel to visit Whitehaven in living memory, anchored-off over the weekend of 14th-15th August 2010. The local tourism board had been trying to get cruise liners to use Whitehaven as a handy jumping-off point for the Lake District for some time, and now it has been proved to be feasable.

The locals used the visit as a good excuse for a 'mini-festival' on the quayside. Although the resident passengers headed inland for a whistle-stop tour of the lakes on the Saturday, the tenders were busy between ship and town on the Sunday too.

Whitehaven doesn't really market itself as a major tourist destination...more of a convenient base and supplies stopover, but the passengers heading back to the ship seemed happy enough, so hopefully there may be other welcome visits from other liners in the future.
