windfarmtraffic

Beautiful and well-organized harbour, lots of winfarm traffic and sometimes quite a bit of noise from the maneuvering ships, even at night.
But a very kindly and helpfull harbourmaster..

I reviewed these notes in July and have updated them to include the new arrangements for the windfarm support vessels. The HM is now Ian Cormack.

Update Early Summer 2021

I reviewed these notes in June 2021. Prices have been held and very little else has been changed; Malcolm is still the HM.
Friendly place

The marina facilities are among the best. The harbour team and local berth holders are exceptionally friendly. HM Malcolm will take as long as necessary to advise about onward passages.
MUT chandlery across the road from the harbour office.
The Heritage Centre is near the harbour and the Pulteney Distillery does tours.
Lidl 20 mins walk on the South Rd, petrol station on the way back.
There are 5 pontoon berths for windfarm service vessels on the north side of the marina basin - they broadcast intention to exit/enter on VHF 14.

The Waypoint is 2 degrees South of Wick
Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 7th Apr 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. Little has changed here; they took battering in pre-Christmas storms but that damage has been repaired now. They are expecting a price review at the end of April.
